You’re time in port on a cruise gives you the chance to see new places and experience new cultures. There’s often nothing as exciting as setting foot in a new country or city for the first time. The chance to explore ashore is one not to be missed.

We asked our community to share with us how they preferred to spend their time ashore. In particular we wanted to know if you liked to take an excursion arranged by your cruise ship or if you liked to explore on your own.

In our closest vote to date, you were split down the middle with both options proving popular.

This result doesn’t surprise us as our belief is that there is a time for both options. When visiting certain countries the predictability a ship’s excursion brings is worth it. In some cities, for example in Northern Europe it’s very safe and convenient to travel under your own steam. In our view it’s horses for courses, but what do you think?

One of the best things about travelling via a cruise is the fact that you can enjoy both the journey and the destination. The chance to see often multiple countries in a single trip whilst sailing in luxury is unlike any other form of travel.

But we wanted to know what your perfect cruise day was. Did you prefer to be sailing in the ocean on a Sea Day or exploring on a Port Day?

The result from our community was an interesting one and shows just how much you love being aboard one of the many fantastic cruise ships sailing today.

60% of you said you preferred a Sea Day with 40% preferring to be on land. Whatever you chose it’s safe to say that most days on a cruise are a good day! And of course we come full circle to the beauty of a cruise…it offers you the best of both worlds. Did the results of our survey surprise you?
